Sunday, June 24: The Girvan Golf Club gents competed for the Dalquharre­n Cup which was won by James Fyfe Jnr ( 6) 61 by virtue of a better inward half than Andy MacFarlane ( 13) 61 followed by Scott MacPherson ( 15) 62 and D Henderson ( 20) 62.

The Turnberry Golf Club Championsh­ip for the Stanley P. Morrison Trophy is open to 15 qualifiers with handicaps of 11 or under having the lowest of two scratch scores from the Summer, Autumn meetings of 2017 and the Spring meeting of 2018.

These then go on to compete in match play which resulted In Gordon Boyle beating S. Crosbie in the final. Likewise the C. L. Jack Trophy is open to the top 16 qualifiers with handicaps of 12 or over in the Summer, Autumn meetings of 2017 and the Spring meeting of 2018.

The final of the match play was between Roddy Gardner and Chris Savage with Roddy Gardner coming out on top.

Congratula­tions to Turnberry Golf Club Champion Gordon Boyle and to Second Class Champion Roddy Gardner plus to all those who took part.

The Bargany Cup is a very old trophy first competed for over the Turnberry course by members of the three local golf clubs ie. the Ballantrae, Girvan and Turnberry Golf Clubs and by including Ballantrae you can appreciate how old this cup is.

The winner this year was Jake McDowall of Girvan Golf Club who beat A Weir in the final.
