The wedding of Nicola Cassells and John Hunter
The couple
Nicola Cassells, 28- year- old classical singer married
30- year- old shipbuilding engineer John Hunter.
The pair now live in Shawlands, Glasgow, but were both originally from Ayr.
Their story
One Friday night back in 2009 John walked in to Harley’s Pub in Ayr to wish his cousin a happy birthday, and his sister told him to say hello to Nicola – her workmate at the time.
“Nobody knows if it was the brown eyes, the sweet perfume or the six pints, three vodkas and the shot of Midori that caused him to steal my cardigan but steal it he did,” joked Nicola.
She added: “A few days later, cardigan in hand, John returned it to H Samuel where I worked at the time. And that moment was the beginning of something special.”
Since then both have enjoyed years of happiness and in October 2016 – seven years after meeting – John asked Nicola to marry him at Loch Lomond.
The wedding
John and Nicola tied the knot on Thursday, June 7, at The Cruin at Loch Lomond.
The couple said: “It was relaxing, elegant and absolutely perfect.
“We can’t thank the staff enough. The weather, setting and scenery were breathtaking.” Attire
The bride wore a Vera Wang dress from David’s Bridal, Braehead, the bridesmaids also wearing gowns from David’s Bridal.
The kilts were the Spirit of Lochearn tartan from Kilts 4 U. Wedding party

The pair are currently celebrating being newlyweds in Bangkok, Thailand, and will be heading to Koh Samui, Thailand, then on to the Atlantis in Dubai.
