Trump told he’ll face flak

From Washington to Ayrshire – the Post teams join forces to talk Trump

Hundreds of people are pledging to stage demonstrations in a bid to disrupt Donald’s trump’s arrival at turnberry Hotel. Police will throw a ring of steel around south Ayrshire this week as the Us President jets into town for a weekend stay at the Carrick resort. trump, who has plunged £ 250million into transforming turnberry, will head north after meeting theresa May and the Queen. He is expected to arrive at Prestwick Airport on Friday night, where his presidential chopper was delivered on sunday.

South Ayrshire is bracing for impact this week as Donald Trump heads for the UK. Weeks of speculation around the President’s visit culminates at the weekend as the spotlight falls on his Turnberry resort. Trump, in the UK this Friday to meet Prime Minister Theresa May and the Queen, will then jet north and hit the fairways. The prospect is capturing interest across the globe... and the world is watching. Among those that follow the President’s every waking move is the Washington Post – no stranger to a fall- out with Trump. Their London bureau chief, Will Booth, is among those fascinated by the President’s love affair with the Carrick coast. And this week he stopped by your very own Ayrshire Post to get a flavour of whether or not Trump has made Turnberry great again. Will, 59, said: “It’s obvious to me that Ayrshire is such a

beautiful place and I can see the attraction for Trump. “We’re used to him spending time at properties of his such as Palm Beach or New Jersey but this is different. “This will be one of the highest profile trips he has ever made. “He will head to a NATO summit before meeting Theresa May, then he meets the Queen and God knows what will happen there! “Then there are a couple of days to fill in before going to Helsinki to see Putin... it’s a huge trip.” Will, who has been with the Post for more than 20 years, admits Trump has changed America and how it is reported forever. But while running for the Oval Office, he was also plunging £ 250 million into the revamp of Turnberry. Son Eric, who now oversees the property, told the Post his dad referred to the project as his “baby” while on the campaign trail. And now in the White House, Trump has become the highest profile figure on the planet. Will said: “We’ve never had a President who tweets and says what he wants when he wants. “He is unique and there is no filter. “And I suppose we’ll never have another President who doesn’t use social media because they’ve now seen its power. “But for all Trump polarises people, he also ensures they are more engaged in politics than ever before. “Who would have thought people would care about a budget fight? They do when he’s involved.”
