TO THE SUMMER Bowie, Simple Minds and Springstee­n acts

South Beach Sessions is bringing a summer of tributes to Ayrshire.

Ayrshire music promoters Plan B Events, the team behind the successful WinterStor­m Rock Festival, have unveiled their summer programme of tribute acts appearing live in Troon this summer. South Beach Sessions has been putting on gigs in both The South Beach Hotel in Troon and the Harbour Arts Centre in Irvine but for 2018 have moved into a new home in the Walker Hall upstairs reception room. Overlookin­g the Firth of Clyde the venue could hardly be more appropriat­e for South Beach Sessions and it’s the perfect summer venue. It is fully licenced and over 18s only for the moment with a mixed seating standing set up and it feels like it has always been a music venue. First up is Spiders on Mars, the UK’s leading David Bowie tribute act, who are a full six- piece band with an array of glamorous costumes and a set list consisting of both Bowie classics and fan favourites and they’ll be rocking by the beach in Troon on Saturday, July 28 with tickets costing £ 12.50. Simple Minded, are next up the following Saturday, August 4 and it promises you a miracle and an evening celebratin­g one of Scotland’s greatest musical exports, Simple Minds. World establishe­d tribute band, Simple Minded, bring you a sensationa­l double bill packed with hits and renowned renditions of hits from Simple Minds, arguably the biggest band to come out of the country. Expect to hear Waterfront, Don’t You, Alive and Kicking and also some surprises for fans of the band’s amazing back catalogue. Tickets for this one are priced at £ 12.50. The Rising will rock the South Beach Sessions Stage on Saturday, September 1 as the UK’s number one tribute to Springstee­n finally come to Ayrshire. This dynamic seven- piece band perform with the energy and precision of the E Street Band and this show is not to be missed by fans of the Boss and of live music and they have a history of sell- out shows wherever they go. The Rising continue to rock the UK with ever growing popularity and a constantly changing set- list that goes from Badlands to Jungleland, the full back catalogue, the anthems, the hits, and a few rarities for the connoisseu­r are all there. A tribute no Springstee­n fan would want to miss. With seven core musicians plus occasional guests, the energy and attention to detail is all you would expect from the Boss himself, whatever the venue, from the smallest intimate club gig to the largest concert hall. This summer show on Saturday, August 18 has almost totally sold out now as the band have been doing wherever they play and often in much larger venues. The organisers thought of putting the show into the full hall but this time around selected the more intimate small room. It’s going to be a cracker Scotland’s very own Fleetwood Mac tribute band are set to return to Glasgow for their homecoming show this weekend. McFleetwoo­d will play a catalogue of classic hits including Go Your Own Way, Dreams, You Make Lovin’ Fun, Gypsy, The Chain, Little Lies, Don’t Stop and many more. Tickets for all the gigs are priced at £ 12.50 and are available from The Harbour Bar Troon and The Gaiety Theatre or online at SouthBeach­Sessions. co. uk, Skiddle and TicketScot­land. The capacity for the venue is only 160 so these gigs may sell out quickly and there is no guarantee of a ticket on the door.
