Girvan
Last Wednesday The Girvan Golf Club Ladies held their open competition ‘ The Kelco Plate ‘ in glorious weather. This is a popular competition attracting some 62 entrants from a number of clubs and all were complimentary about the organisation and of course the refreshments from Maggie’s Pantry. The course also attracted some congratulatory remarks so it was a good day for all concerned. The main trophy ‘ The Kelco Plate’ was won by Girvan ladies Club Champion Roz McCulloch on ( 9) 64 with Christine Milroy ( Loudoun Gowf ladies) ( 16) 65 leading the Silver section followed by Wilma McDade ( Girvan) ( 17) 69 and Susan Low ( 15) 69. In the Bronze Section Elizabeth Barbour ( Dalmilling Ladies) led the field with ( 24) 68 followed by Sandra Morland ( Girvan)( 24) 70 and Catharine McCrindle ( Turnberry Ladies) ( 23) 70. Alex Glennie ( Kilmarnock Barassie) won the scratch trophy on 79 whilst Isobel Connor ( 20) 66 came in to win the prize for the best local score. You will appreciate that of the main trophies no competitor could win more than one. The Longest silver drive went to Helena Menhinick of Brunstone Castle whilst Beth Wilson of Caprington Ladies had the longest bronze drive. The magic two’s went to Veronica Hamilton, Roz McCulloch both Girvan Ladies, Maureen Shimminn of Dalmilling Ladies and Christine Milroy of Loudoun Ladies. Congratulations to Roz McCulloch the Kelco Plate winner and to everyone who took part. A lot of prizes went to a lot of happy participants so everyone went home vowing to return next year.
