Denmark host the Fynske Bank Multisport World Championships Festival for the world’s best athletes in duathlon, cross triathlon, aquathlon, aquabike and triathlon. Troon’s Alastair Stewart was the first Ayrodynamic member to make the trip for this festival to compete in the World Duathlon Championships after qualifying at St i r l i n g Duathlon earlier in the year. Alastair dug deep and raced well in the heat to finish the standard distance race ( run 10km/ bike 40km/ run 5km) in 2.02.47 to take 6th place in the 60- 64 age group and 2nd Brit. Closer to home, we had the Triathlon Scotland National Sprint Triathlon Championship at Monikie Park, Angus. The 750m swim in the calm waters of Monikie Park’s north pond was followed by some beautiful scenery with views over Angus and the River Tay during a fantastic rolling 21km cycle, finishing with a fast 5km run around the north and south ponds of the park. Three Ayrodynamic members battled Scotland’s best athletes for the podium places. Kilmarnock’s Lorna Todd raced superbly to take the Female Veteran Scottish Champion title finishing in 1.14.13. ( 47th overall, sixth female and first female veteran). Kilmarnock’s David Auchie also had a fantastic race to finish 21st overall and second super veteran in 1.09.54, making the podium once again. Charlie Martin, Troon, had a great race and crossed the line in 1.19.44, 74th overall and 14th super veteran.
