A pioneering charity has been handed the keys to a brand new van. And the wheels were presented by a neighbouring business at Auchincruive, near Ayr.

IFDAS ( Independence from Drugs and Alcohol Scotland) has set up a River Garden.

It’s the UK’s first long- term recovery centre for people who have battled addictions.

The van boost came from Neogen Europe, which has its HQ at the old Dairy School.

The keys were handed over by Neogen Europe CEO Stephen Holmes, along with Jim Herbert, CEO from American parent company Neogen.

The van will greatly boost staff and volunteers at River Garden with planned business activities.

Stephen Holmes said: “We think it’s important to support this charity which will help

Pacitti was already subject to an ASBO, made in February last year, that banned him for playing music at excessive levels or creating excessive noise from any stereo or television at his home.

His ASBO also banned him from having parties or gathering of more than two people, who are not tenants at his address or family members of said tenant, and any

problems associated with their family members’ addictions.”

Mark Bitel is director of development at River Garden.

He said: “The donation of this van and all the insurance costs for five years will really help our businesses to develop.

“It’ll be used for supplies and deliveries, as well as helping us to transport small teams of people to activities in the community.”

River Garden’s plans to open a pop- up café for the summer are progressing well, with the aim of opening Friday to Sunday from the last week in July, permitted parties or gatherings do not take place between 10pm and 7am.

Police were called and found six people inside the property who were said to be drunk.

The court heard Pacitti had said he was just having a party and the police were disrupting that.

Sheriff John Montgomery said: “This is now the fifth time that you have breached this antisocial behaviour disorder since January 2017.

“That to me demonstrates that you are defiant and you don’t care about this order.

“So the price for that is you will go to jail for nine months.”

Pacitti pled guilty to breaching his ASBO on June 19 by playing music at an excessive level, otherwise create excessive noise, and having a party or gathering of more than two people who are not tenants there.
