Meredith’s Dumfries House soundtrack
An Ayrshire- based harpist is set to launch a 12- track album at a special live performance this weekend.
Meredith McCrindle, a 32- year- old from Texas now living in Ayr, has spent three years developing a “musical tour” of Dumfries House and will perform her original works at the debut airing of When Walls Speak on Sunday, July 29.
The inaugural performance is a heartfelt musical tribute to the Cumnock estate which has captured the imagination of musiclovers across Ayrshire and beyond.
Demand for tickets, which include afternoon tea, has been so high that the recital will now take place in the Pavilion, traditionally reserved for weddings and other large functions.
Meredith will perform her original works, each of which is dedicated to a particular room within the Palladian country house near Cumnock, at the debut airing of the
12- track album.
“If the rich history of the house was made into a movie, this would be the soundtrack,” explained Meredith, who lives in Ayr with her Scottish husband and their two children.
“The music is more than just harp it’s a modern expression of an iconic home, a musical tour that brings the people, rooms and history to life.
“The architecture and furnishings at Dumfries House fascinate me, but it’s the history and the future vision of the House that truly moves me.”
The recital includes Baroque- era pieces written for Dumfries House and nine original compositions dedicated to the history of the family and their home.
The concert will feature special guests, including Ayrshire Infinity Choir director Siobhan McAuley.
To attend the launch of When Walls Speak on Sunday, July 29 from 3pm, booking is essential.
Tickets, priced £ 25, include afternoon tea and are available from Tania Bechelli on 01290 429 913 or at t. bechelli@ dumfrieshouse. org. uk
