Fred brings his unique brand of satire to town

-

There will be plenty of laughs in store as legendary Scottish funnyman Fred MacAulay brings his 30 Years On tour to Cumnock Town Hall on Saturday, September 22.

Known for his mixture of satire and observational comedy, Fred has been at the forefront of the UK comedy scene for more than three decades, having made his debut back in 1988 with a five- minute slot at the Mayfest So You Think You’re Funny competition in Glasgow.

A regular at Edinburgh Fringe and with many tours under his belt, fans will also know him from TV shows such as QI, Have I Got News For You, Mock The Week and talk show McCoist and MacAulay, as well as Radio 4’ s The News Quiz, Unbelievable Truth and Just A Minute and long- running BBC Radio Scotland show MacAulay and Co.

Fred’s on- air witticisms and on- screen reputation are the product of years of experience on the live circuit, with his 2017 stand- up show Fred at the Stand being described simply as “a masterclass” by The Evening Express.

Celebrating 30 years in comedy with a third consecutive summer tour around some of his favourite venues in Scotland, Fred said:

“I used to do my tours in the Autumn around England - but I’ll be honest, you soon tire of dark autumn evenings on the road to places that even the locals have never heard of!

“I’ll go anywhere that’ll have me. It’s like having a summer holiday with a wee bit of work thrown in.

“And yes, the golf clubs will be in the back of the car.”

Acknowledged as one of the country’s finest stand- ups, this current tour is a welcome chance for fans to catch up with Fred’s views on what’s going on in the world today.

The show begins at 8pm and tickets, £ 13/£ 10, are available from Cumnock Town Hall on 01290 421028, the Palace Theatre box office on 01563 554900 or from east ayrshire leisure. com. The event is suitable for over 16s only.
