Ayr strip show backs charities
New logos printed on club shirts
Ayr United have unveiled two charities they will back as part of a unique kit deal.
Alzheimer Scotland and The Breastfeeding Network are to have their logos printed on the back of the club’s shirts.
It follows businessman, Stewart Hay, giving up his prize won at United’s strip sponsorship draw.
Ayr bosses have now chosen the charitable causes to share the limelight.
Commercial manager, Graeme Miller, said: “It was a fantastic gesture by Stewart to hand his prize to charity.
“This could have gone to many causes, but we’ve chosen two with close links to the club over a number of years.
“We hope they will reap the benefits of this extra exposure as we embark upon our new season in the Championship.”
Julie Peterkin, peer support worker at the Breastfeeding Network, said: “Our relationship with the club stretches as far back as 2010 when we had our first trackside board.
“They have always been very supportive and shown themselves to be an extremely family friendly club.
“We believe this will a world first to have our brand on a football shirt and it is very exciting.”
Julie Sinclair, head of localities for Alzheimer Scotland, added: “We’re thrilled with the gesture and really looking forward to seeing the Alzheimer Scotland purple alongside the black and white of ‘ The Honest Men’.
“We’ve had wonderful support from Ayr United and the fans at Somerset Park over the years.
“There are more than 2,500 people with dementia in South Ayrshire and this is a fantastic way to help raise awareness about our work.”
