Upcycling shop goes upmarket

-

Ayr’s only upcycling charity shop has gained official status as a stockist of Sarah Jayne upmarket chalk paint – the only stockist in Ayrshire.

The Ayrshire Cancer Support charity shop, in Newmarket Street, was restyled earlier this year to offer tips and techniques to upcycle clothing and furniture and they have been hosting events and workshops to demonstrate how to turn unwanted items into chic must haves.

The workshops demonstrate that with a little creativity, many items which are taken to landfill can be loved again.

Odette Landsburgh, Retail Sales Manager for ACS’s ten charity shops said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as a stockist for Sarah Jayne Chalkpaints.

“It was a natural progression for the shop to be able to sell chalk paint, waxes and stencils, as we are selling second hand furniture that lends itself to being painted.

“We are now able to offer customers the opportunity to buy pieces of furniture and the materials to upcycle them.

“If people are unsure about how to take on a project, we even have workshops showing them how to do it.

“The great thing about our shops are that every penny raised is spent in Ayrshire – it’s so much more that your standard high street charity shop.

“It’s an opportunity to get creative and save money.”
