‘ Anxious’ man threatened police
A man who threatened to kill police officers has been fined.
Alan Miller of Laggan House in Prestwick began shouting at officers in Philip square in Ayr on May 17 when they were called by witnesses.
the 50- year- old was heavily intoxicated and behaved in a threatening and abusive manner.
Miller called officers “piggy b******” and “f****** clowns”, and when they attempted to cuff him he tensed his arms.
Ayr sheriff Court heard Miller was due to give evidence in another inquiry, which was causing him some stress.
Miller’s defence solicitor said his client was “on heavy painkillers for his back and also started drinking.”
He added: “He was very anxious when the police came he acted very poorly.
“Given what was happening in his life and what has happened in the past, perhaps there can be a degree of understanding.”
sheriff John Montgomery said: “Clearly taking drink has exasperated this.
“One can have a degree of understanding but that does not excuse the behaviour of this sort.”
Miller pled guilty to behaving in a threatening manner by shouting and swearing.
He also admitted resisting, obstructing or hindering constables in the execution of their duty and did struggle with them.
He was fined £ 450.
