High ‘ satifaction rates’ at West of scotland Uni
the University of the West of scotland ( UWs) is flying above the national average for student satisfaction rates.
National student survey ( Nss) results have revealed that overall UWs, which has an Ayr campus, student satisfaction rates have increased to 84.9 per cent in 2018.
this excellent feedback from students represents a two percentage point increase compared to last year and sees UWs perform above the scottish average.
Furthermore, UWs student satisfaction in almost all categories is also higher than the scottish average.
A UWs spokesman said: “We are delighted with the latest student satisfaction results which are down to the hard work and commitment of everyone at UWs to delivering an excellent student experience.
“through our Corporate strategy we set out an ambitious vision to deliver an outstanding teaching and learning environment and this positive feedback from students on the quality of their experience shows that that the actions we are taking to deliver the very best for them are working.
“We have achieved this through investing in innovative student support services, personalised and flexible education delivery and interactive technology- supported learning.
“We really are delivering on our purpose to transform lives and communities through higher education.”
In addition to improvements in student satisfaction UWs has also seen a number of other major positives in relation to student success including that fact that:
the University has exceeded its target for positive student outcomes three years early with 86 per cent of graduates securing professional employment or further study in 2016/ 17 against a target of 85 per cent by 2019/ 20, and
the percentage of students continuing their studies after their first year has increased from 75 per cent in 2011/ 12 to 86 per cent in 2016/ 17.
