Troon OIR are hosting an Afternoon at the Movies on Wednesday August 29 at 2pm in Portland Church Hall.

The film showing is “Literary and Potato Peel Society”.

All welcome. £ 2 donation which covers refreshmen­ts.

Troon Chorus open their new session on Monday August 27 at 7.30pm in Portland Church Hall.

There are vacancies in all sections and new members will be given a warm welcome.

1st Troon Company the Girls’ Brigade hold their enrolment for the new session on Monday August 27 from 6.30pm until 7.30pm in St Meddan’s Church Hall. P1- P3 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Muirhead Activity Centre are holding an Open Day on Saturday August 18 from 11am to 4pm. This is an opportunit­y to promote the Centre and show what is available.

Free Taster Sessions are running from 11am to 11.30am – Joe Jingles for children under 5 and Street Dance from 11am - 11.45am for youngsters 7years and over.

From 12.30pm – 3.30pm Squash Courts will be available free of charge and coaches will be on hand to give advice.

Bouncy Castle Fun will be open from 12.30pm- 4pm .

Troon Friends of the Ayrshire Hospice are hosting a Gardeners Question Time in St Meddan’s Church Hall on Tuesday August 21 at 7pm for 7.30pm.

Some “well kent faces” on the panel. Tickets priced £ 8.

Action on Hearing – Troon Library, South Beach – Tuesday August 7 from 1.30pm to 4pm, and Friday August 31 from 10am to 12.30pm. Free batteries and tubing changed.

Summer Touch Rugby – Family touch rugby sessions have resumed on Friday evenings at Fullarton during the summer months.

All ages and abilities from 6 to 60+ are welcome to attend.

Date for your Diary - The Great Troon Wall Hanging can be seen at St Ninian’s Episcopal Church on Saturday September 8 from 11am to 1pm.

Some of the Needlework­ers involved in this wonderful tapestry will be on hand.

Fancy dress is encouraged for a Harry Pottery themed murder mystery night at Dundonald Castle.

Historic Scotland are putting on the event on Saturday September 8, 7.30pm- 10pm, tickets are £ 8.

It’s getting to that time of year again - the clock is ticking on the Ayrshire Real Ale Festival, usual place, October 4- 6, with more than 150 fresh brews.
