It was great fun rockin’ down at the seaside
Despite the rainy weather last week, youngsters still soaked up the beach experience as Ayr St Columba Church was transformed into a world of seaside attractions.
The church on Midton Road welcomed primary pupils to their summer holiday club, Seaside Rock.
On the beach in the main hall the youngsters celebrated in energetic worship that brought a bit more sweat than the average church service hymns as they jumped, danced, shouted, and spun around with praise.
Throughout the week the Gospel was explored through the eyes of Peter; looking at his calling, the parable of the wise and foolish builders, the healing of his mother- in- law by Jesus, the Crucifixion, and the breakfast on the beach.
Each day the main story was reinforced by creating a craft and all enjoyed snack time, prepared by the wonderful kitchen ladies, while completing the daily worksheets.
The group also competed in team challenges, enjoyed games, and challenged themselves to remember the memory verse from each day.
On the final day of holiday club there was a BBQ celebration, with parents coming in and joining their children at the end of a wonderful week together.
Plans are already underway for the next holiday clubs in Easter and next summer and several other special events throughout the year.
