Our big search for more local heroes
We invite the people of Ayrshire to nominate their local heroes.
The Cream of Ayrshire Awards is your chance to honour an organisation, team or individual in your own community.
We are looking for nominees who have overcome adversity and people or companies who should be recognised for their outstanding work and dedication to the community.
Nomination period is from Monday, August 6 until Sunday, September 2.
The categories:
1. Contribution to the Community with Spirit AeroSystems
This category is for the best community group or initiative aiming to reward a group of people who are working together.
It could be a community newsletter, a hall committee, an afterschool club so long as their project benefits their local area and those involved show dedication to their community
2. Child Bravery Award with A J Gallagher
Nominations for a child aged 15 and under who has performed an extreme act of bravery on behalf of others or shown bravery due to personal circumstances
3. Best Local Bar/ Restaurant with Reid’s Food Service
Do you think your local pub or club should be crowned with the “Best Local Pub or Club Award?” Maybe they pour the perfect pint or perhaps the food is amazing.
It could be the atmosphere that makes it so special or that they have quizzes and competitions which benefit local charities.
Whatever the reason we want to hear from you.
4. Ayrshire Sporting Hero with Ayrshire Post, Kilmarnock Standard and Irvine Herald
Do you know an Ayrshire Sporting Hero – then nominate them in the Ayrshire Sporting Hero Category with The Ayrshire Post, Kilmarnock Standard and Irvine Herald first for local sports coverage.
5. School Champion with Brownings the Bakers
Any individual working within or associated with a school who makes an outstanding contribution to the smooth running of the school.
They might be someone who inspires a love of learning or supports the educational and developments needs of school- aged children and thereby helping children become positive community members.
The winner could be a classroom assistant, janitor, catering staff, dinner lady or crossing patrol officer.
6. Unsung Hero with East, North and South Ayrshire Council
Our three Ayrshire Councils provide many services we take for granted.
However North, East and South Ayrshire Councils wanted a deserving person in our local community not to be taken for granted.
Instead our Councils are happy to have been able to help elevate that person to the status of Unsung Hero.
7. Lifetime Achievement Award with Eydent, The Alliance of Ayrshire Housing Associations
Presented to an individual who has spent their life working for the betterment of their Community or have led their Organisation or Company to success.
8. Good Neighbour Award with The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service
Working together for a safer Scotland. Has one of your neighbours gone that extra mile for you or another neighbour in your area? Maybe they look in on an elderly resident and do their shopping. Do they put your bins out or cut your grass for no reward? Then we want to hear about them.
9. Class of the Year with Steven Brown Art
Did your students have an amazing year during 2017/ 18 - tell us about your Class of the Year
10. Up and Coming Youngster with Billy Bowie Special Projects
This award is to celebrate a local young person aged 25 and under who shines. Perhaps they have shown exceptional talent in a creative way. It could be in sport, music or community project.
11. Best Local Charity Award with The Rivergate Shopping Centre
This Award is designed to recognise the hard work and innovative thinking by our local charities who exemplify best practice, and deliver sustainable benefit to communities and society in general.
