Smash hit 51 Shades of Maggie on its way

-

Prepare for the funniest, sexiest show you’ll see this year as smash- hit comedy 51 Shades of Maggie arrives at the Gaiety Theatre, Ayr, next month, writes Leesa Harker.

Scotland’s original and favourite Maggie Muff, Leah MacRae – star of River City and Gary: Tank Commander – returns to the show, which has enjoyed three sell- out Scottish tours and ten separate sell- out runs in England, Ireland, and Australia to date.

This best- selling send- up of 50 Shades of Grey tells the story of loveable Maggie and her search for love. A working class girl, Maggie – like many women – has been let down by the men in her life.

Attending an interview at the social security office, Maggie meets the handsome and hunky Mr Big! Will he turn out to be the man of her dreams, or will his ‘ Private Room of Pain’ put her off?

“I wasn’t really looking forward to telling my parents about the role,” says the 29- year- old.

“I figured at first my dad would be most shocked by what I was about to get up to.

“But it was my mum who nearly died when I read to her the bit in the play about Maggie having sex up against the B& Q warehouse wall.”

But Leah stressed: “It’s a fantastic part to play and the show has already enjoyed a sellout run in Belfast.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to appear in a one- woman show, even though it’s very demanding because I have to voice a variety of characters.

“But I must admit I was a bit wary when offered the part because it is a wee bit fruity.”

Perfect for a girly night out with your friends, this hilarious play full of naughty bits will have you laughing out loud as you join Maggie and her friends on a journey of love, booze – and whips!

Please note that due to the strong language and themes of an adult nature, this show is not suitable for under 16s.

There will be shows at 7.30pm on September 4- 6 and two shows on September 7 - 5pm and 8.30pm. Tickets, from £ 26, are on sale now, call the box office 01292 288235.
