Old estate house up for grabs

-

Craig House was once a family seat, becoming a children’s home then fell into disrepair, and looked a bit like the White House in Washington DC.

The Grade B mansion was converted into 11 flats, new villas were built on the estate to fund it, and now several of the remaining outbuildings are being sold off including an old barn.

It was once the home of the Dunlops and then the PollockMorris family

This one was home to two estate workers and their families, both substantial semi’s.

It is being marketed for sale as a whole at the upset price of offers over £ 120,000 by Corum in Troon.

The estate is between Gatehead and Dreghorn, surrounded by some lovely country, sandwiched between the Carmel Water and River Irvine.

A stone barn near to the workers’ cottages is also just on the market at offers over £ 100,000.

Few details - and no internal photographs or layouts - have been released.

But the brochure does show a secluded garden with large lawn to the side.

The cottages were latterly used as offices and Kilmarnock College accomodation and have all services.

Corum said: “They are structurally sound and watertight, representing a fantastic opportunity to design and develop a two storey dwelling with extensive gardens and attached garages.”
