Ayrshire competitors comfortable to be among Elite triathletes in park
A number of Ayrshire triathletes were in fine form at the Elite Races at the weekend.
The event took place in Strathclyde Country Park on Saturday Morning, with Lorna Todd, Lorna Sloan and David Auchie competing in the Glasgow 2018 European Sprint Triathlon Championship.
Being on home turf, the GBR age group team had its largest- ever contingent, competing with over 600 team members.
Auchie had the race of the day, storming the 750m swim, 20km undulating and technical bike course, and challenging 5km run in 1: 12: 02 to take the bronze medal in the male 55- 59 age category.
Lorna Todd showed her strength and skill over the course with a superb performance in a stacked field of talented athletes to finish in seventh place in 1: 14: 24 in female 40- 44.
Lorna Sloan raced well in the female 50- 54, overcoming a recent injury as she finished in 22nd place in 1: 25: 10. Emma Lunan also raced well in this age group in 1: 30: 25 to place 30th.
Their team- mate Alastair Stewart, after a challenging swim, raced hard to pull back places on the bike and run as he finished strong in 29th place in 1: 24: 43 in the male 60- 64 category.

On Sunday, the venue hosted Tri in the Park Youth, Novice and Sprint events.
The rainfall didn’t let up and the conditions were challenging on the bike course.

A good day in the Middleton household, with Tracey also getting on the podium in first place in the sprint race as the winning lady in the super veteran category.
David Murray also raced hard and finished third in the male veteran category.
