Strong performances at 86th Ayr Bowling Tournament
The 86th Ayr Bowling Tournament was a huge success, with lots of great performances.
The mixed pairs and junior pairs started off the week, with a new format and the final being played on Wednesday Night at Craigie Bowling Club.
Spectators came along to support the finalists and watched two great games.
Carson Mason from Coylton BC and George Robertson from Ochlitree BC beat Aimee Richardson and Aimee Harris of Shettleston. This followed on from their win in the SYBA championships a few weeks ago.
Claire McCurdie from Forehill and John Cuthbertson from Northfield beat Louise Noon from Newton Park and Darren Weir from Prestwick in the Mixed Pairs finals.
The Junior Girls Singles was won by Rachael Houston of Prestwick, who beat Aimee Harris.
The Junior Boys Singles was won by Lewis Rennie from WE Stranraer BC, who beat Jamie Noon from Newton Park.
Ladies Pairs was won by Shirley Griffen and Donna Clark of Coylton, beating mother and daughter Lynn and Rebecca Houston of Prestwick.
Ladies Singles was won by Rebecca Houston of Prestwick . She beat Janette Muir of Annbank.
In the Gents Singles, Alex Higgins of Stranraer defeated Stuart Reid of Ayr in a very close game.
In the Gents Pairs, Michael Kelly and Alex Higgins of Stranraer beat Derek McCall and James McRobert from Hawkhill.
The Tommy Campbell Senior Singles was won by Sheila Cole of Kincaidston and Belmont, who is the first woman to win this trophy, beating B Lemerquer.
Dates for next year’s tournament are July 29- August 3. Entry forms are available.
