Glorious Times

-

You ever been to one of those all you can eat buffets?

Where no matter how hard you try, you can’t stop spooning grub on your plate.

You know that, eventually, your belly will fail to keep pace with your eyes.

But one only gets limited chances to run amok at the teriyaki noodle counter.

Over at Somerset Park, we’re in the middle of such a buffet.

No matter how much glorious food is sent our way right now, we just keep devouring it.

This feast surely has to end at some point.

But our rampant form shows no sign of slowing and, in fairness, why should it?

Inferiority complexes are the worst thing in life.

And this Ayr United team has no reason to have one.

Is the Championship a step up from the absolute garbage of the seaside leagues?

Of course. But it’s hardly La Liga. And the best thing about our approach this year is that we’re sticking to our strengths.

No use worrying about the opposition when we can frighten the living daylights out of them.

In Rose, Crawford and Shankland we have three of the league’s best players – the spine of a team that is the envy of everyone else.

Will tough spells be endured this season? Absolutely.

But this promises to be something of a golden generation at Somerset that, if kept together for a season at least, could take us very, very far.

Enjoy this ride while you can.
