Ayr put Kilmarnock rivals to the sword

-

Ayr’s Footgolf side claimed derby bragging rights after putting Kilmarnock to the sword in a one-side thrashing.

The team, based out of Roodlea, won 21-0 on a wet and windy night which saw veteran David Craig lead the way with a classy 61.

Scotland international Jonathan Craig and Tony Bryson both hit rounds of 62 to pick up team points.

Club skipper, Gavin Craig, found himself third in the private Craig family battle as Ayr coasted to victory.

Amy Miller picked up the female point for Ayr, who now progress to the

Club league finals in England next month.

Gavin said:“For 30 players to turn

out on a cold and wet Wednesday evening was fantastic.

“It was great to have Amy playing her second match and hopefully this will encourage other females to join us next season.

“Vice captain Martyn Little and I are proud of what the club has achieved in terms of numbers and results and feel we can continue to grow.”

The team is sponsored by AyrtoB Removals and Storage. •Ayr were pipped to the league title

on Sunday after losing out to Cumbernauld. •Gavin, who finished tied fifth in the

English Open, and brother Jonathan were part of the Team Scotland line-up which claimed the Auld Enemy Trophy against England.
