Developer submits plans for 297 homes
A leading house builder has secured the land to build almost 300 homes on a £90million site in Monkton.
Persimmon Homes West Scotland last month lodged a Detailed Planning Application with South Ayrshire Council.
It is the largest detailed housing proposal put forward in the last five years.
The application outlines proposals to build 297 new homes on the 35 acres of agricultural land off Kilmarnock Road and Tarbolton Road.
The house builder is delighted to move the project forward with the submission for planning.
Doug Law, managing director at Persimmon Homes West Scotland, said: “This site is an integral part of our expansion programme and we are delighted to take the next step towards building new houses that meet the needs of the local housing market and community.
“Our investment in the town will include a range of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes with 25 per cent affordable homes and the creation of a new pedestrian walkway from Kilmarnock Road to Tarbolton Road.
“Also included in our proposals is the creation of wildflower meadows and maintained open space to further enhance the wider development.
“Our Section 75 investment towards education and road improvements is still to be finalised, and care is being taken to incorporate the listed buildings and scheduled ancient monument within the site.”
A favourable decision from the planning committee would enable an anticipated start at the end of 2019.
