Richard described as a great family man
A dad- of- two killed in a road smash has been described as a “great man who adored his family”.
Richard Herron, of Maybole, was pounced dead at the scene following a serious road collision on the B7023.
The 54- year- old’s car was the only vehicle involved in the collision.
The incident occurred on the Mochrum Hill road near to Maybole on Friday about 6am.
Many friends and work colleagues of Mr Herron expressed their sadness at his sudden death.
They said he was a “great man” and a “very special man who adored his family”.
Working as a Fibre Team Operator at Land Energy Girvan since January 2015, Richard was described as “hard working and energetic” individual.
John- Paul Santangeli, Plant Manager at Land Energy Girvan, said: “It was terrible [ what happened] - he was a great team member, hard working and energetic. He was always up for having a laugh and joke - he was just good to be around.”
It is understood that he had two young sons.
A police spokeswoman confirmed the incident and said enquiries were ongoing.
She added that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
A full report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.
The Post attempted to contact Richard’s family in Maybole this week but there was no- one available for comment.
