Dangerous driver drugged up
A drugged up driver who drove a ‘ seriously accident damaged’ car has been banned from the roads.
Gary small, 32, was found in the driver’s seat of his car in a lay- by on school Road in Minishant on June 3.
Officers saw his car was severely damaged and there were no tyres left on the wheels, noting small had driven a distance on the wheel rims.
the engine was still running and small appeared unsteady on his feet and under the influence of something.
solicitor Ian Gillies commented his client had “tried to get [ the car] home but couldn’t.”
small, of Minnoch Crescent in Maybole, also faced charges of having a black baseball bat in his possession on June 3 and a different bat on June 5.
sheriff Desmond Leslie asked if small had a stash of bats.
the sheriff said: “Does he have a collection of baseball bats?
“He has a silver one, a black one and an unidentified one.
“It’s not illegal to have a baseball bat but if you’re using it offensively.”
small pled guilty to driving a car dangerously while said vehicle was serious accident damaged and unfit for use.
He admitted driving on the rims on the wheels while under the influence of drugs, repeatedly swerve across the roadway and drive on the grass verge.
He also pled guilty to having with him an offensive weapon on June 3 at school Road and on June 5 at Minnoch Crescent.
small was sentenced to 18 months supervision, disqualified from holding and obtaining a license for one year and ordered to resit his test.
He was also tagged from 8pm - 7am for six months on the charge of having a baseball bat on June 5.
