Huffy teen caused chaos

- Abi Smillie

A teen who threw furniture around his mother’s house in a “huff” has been ordered to carry out unpaid work.

Brat Michael Maule, 19, became aggressive on september 2 when he threw furniture around the property on Kilmarnock Road, Dundonald and punched holes through wooden doors.

His parents asked him to leave but he refused to and began shouting at them calling them offensive names.

Police attended some time later but Maule had left the home.

He was traced a short distance away and was arrested.

solicitor steven Maxwell said: “there was no excuse for it.

“He went in a huff is the only way I can put it.

“Mr Maule wasn’t taking a telling.

“His behaviour was quite adolescent about this fuelled by alcohol.

“His mother has removed herself from the family home and she now resides in troon.

“the intent is Mr Maule will join her in that accommodation.”

Ayr sheriff Court also heard the teen breached his current Restriction of Liberty Order.

But Mr Maxwell told sheriff scott Pattison it was only an “eight or 12 minute breach”.

Maule, of Barassie street in troon pled guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by throwing and kicking various items in the home, shout and swear and refuse to leave when requested to.

He also admitted recklessly destroying or damaging property belonging to another and repeatedly punching doors causing damage.

He was sentenced to a new Community Payback Order where he must carry out 78 hours of unpaid work within six months.
