Driver is assaulted in carjack attempt Hunt for two men who failed in vehicle snatch bid

A man was viciously attacked in an attempted carjacking in Ayr.

In the early hours of Thursday, September 27, a 20- year- old was in his car on Whitletts Road, near to Tesco, when two men opened the door of the vehicle, punched him in the face and demanded he hand over his keys.

The man tried to drive off with the two suspects in pursuit on foot, banging on the car windows.

Police attended the scene and the man did not require hospital treatment.

The first suspect is described as white, about six- feet tall, in his mid- 20s, of slim build, with short dark hair and an unkempt beard.

He was wearing a bobble hat, a dark, shiny jacket and dark grey jogging trousers, and black training shoes with a white trim.

The second suspect is described as white, about five- feet 10 inches tall, in his mid- 20s and of slim build, with short dark hair and dark stubble.

He was wearing a dark- blue zipper top with a white logo on the left side, light- grey jogging trousers and dark training shoes.

Detective Constable Paul McRoberts said: “While the man did not require medical assistance, he has been left badly shaken by the unprovoked level of violence.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to contact us.

“Any small piece of informatio­n could prove vital in helping us locate the men responsibl­e for this attack so please do contact us with any informatio­n.”
