An afternoon of bun and fun will be held this Saturday ( Oct 6) at St Meddans Parish Church Hall.

The Cream tea is from 2pm- 4pm, tickets are £ 3.

It is being staged by the church’s special projects team to raise money for Dementia/ Altzeimers Scotland.

The Macmillan Coffee Morning held in Troon Library on Thursday September 27 raised the excellent sum of £ 184.

Staff of the Library wish to thank all who supported this fund raiser and contribute­d in any way to the success of the event.

Troon Probus Club welcome new members – ladies and gentlemen - to their monthly meetings in the South Beach Hotel. The Club meet on the first Monday of every month at 12noon for lunch at 12.30pm which is followed by a speaker. All topics – nonreligio­us and nonpolitic­al - are covered.

The Rotary Club of Troon is holding its Sixth “Young Musician Competitio­n”, within Marr College starting at 7pm on Wednesday November 28.

This Club event is the first stage of a competitio­n, in which the successful participan­ts can progress through the District Final at the Royal Conservato­ire of Scotland,

John Crerar said: “We are anxious to offer the opportunit­y of entry to all students, in full time education, who were still 17 or under on August 31, 2018, who live in the Troon/ Barassie/ Dundonald area.

“The Competitio­n is divided into two sections, instrument­al and

vocalist and has been successful­ly run by Rotary over a number of years. While there is obviously a competitiv­e element, the object of the Competitio­n is to allow budding musicians and vocalists the opportunit­y of performing in public.”

Beer taps start gushing on Thursday at 2pm for the 19th annual Ayrshire Beer Festival.

Townsfolk will as usual be struck by the legions of middle- aged and old men making their way too and from the station.

The fest is the best in the west and will run until the last keg is dry on Saturday. Price for entry to the Concert Hall and Walker Hall is £ 6.
