Talk of the town from our social media

-

Last week, we told how a dog- mad couple dressed the furry friend in a kilt for their wedding at Ayr’s Savoy Park.

Lisa and Robert Irvine tied the knot with their West Highland Terrier, who was part of the wedding party.

Margaret Whalen said: “I had my Lhasa Apso in my wedding pictures. She was my furbaby.”

Fiona Stewart said: “Great story. Well done to The Savoy Park Hotel! Congratulations to the Bride, Groom and Bobby!”

It was revealed that sex crimes were up 40 per cent in South Ayrshire.

The hike in sexual crime cases to 74, stems from perverts targeting people on the Internet, historical cases and more victims coming forward.

But all other crime has plunged according to the latest police figures.

Paul Tumulty said: “I blame our system not locking these people up the justice system is failing people. “A guy today with child pornography was let free on the front page of the local paper.”

Christine McIlwraith said: “We have no “justice” system that’s why. Our streets are riddled with paedophiles and they are parasites on the internet. Get them all locked up without the luxury of internet access and you’ll notice a decline of offences instead of giving them a slap on the wrist and letting them back out to harm our children.”

We reported that a new nursery is to be built surrounded by farmyard animals and cute critters.

Huge public support helped win permission for the building within the Heads of Ayr Farm Park and up to 20 jobs is set to be created.

Steven Mackie said: “That sounds amazing! I wish I was that age now to experience that as a kid.”

Evelyn Welsh said: “Great idea! Sad that the planning department was so negative in its approach, but good news that it’s happening.”

We wrote that a campaign had stepped up to save chemotherapy service at Ayr Hospital

It had been backed by Cumnock Community Council after it was reported last October that cancer patients would have to travel up to 100 miles for life- saving chemotherapy as the axe fell on the treatment at Ayr Hospital.

Jean Mcmaster said: “It will close if we do nothing. We have to fight to keep it at Ayr.”

Lisa Haining said: “The changes being made to Ayr and Crosshouse hospitals are not in the public or staffs “
