Dial M for Magnificent in Bellevue

- Stephen Houston

With any luck the brace of old phone boxes will remain, adding charm to a hidden mews home in South Ayr.

One sits prominently out front bedecked with flowering plants, the second nestles in the back garden.

This old coach house is in Bellevue Lane, but just as easily looks as if it’s in the middle of an archetypal English village.

There are no horses, instead four bedrooms and 1800 square feet of fun.

The gifted owners have turned it into a little icon of style and agents Donald Ross Residential hit the mark when they say it is “charming and unique”., adding: “The Coach House is a splendid Victorian detached villa which has been cleverly converted into a most unique and interesting family home situated at the south end of Park Circus – one of Ayr’s finest residential areas.”

You enter into a porch, with the 17 foot lounge with French door to the garden on the left and separate dining room and kitchen on the right.

The integral garage stretches nearly 19 feet and was the original stable to the big house out front.

It can still take a car and is also plumbed for washing machines and other kitchen appliances including a sink.

The dining size kitchen is a delight to be in, with an array of high level windows giving a New York loft feel. This is definitely the show point of the house and at just over 17ft long, is graced with high end fittings and is large enough for a big dining table.

The bedrooms are all doubles upstairs, the master with an en- suite including large shower and his and hers sinks, and a fitted wardrobe.

The family bathroom on this level has a side- filling tub as well as a separate shower.

Cobbles out front add to the period style.

There is no need for a lawnmower as there is no grass out back, instead a tranquil walled garden which has been slabbed and brimming with plants which you can watch from the summer house.

From a mobile or old red call box, phone Donald Ross Residential on 01292 288222 for viewing. Offers over £ 315,000.
