GOLF RETURNS Girvan

Girvan Ladies monthly medal resulted in a win for Sandra Deeney nett 73 followed by Arlene McGarragle 78. The Gladys Gray competitio­n resulted in a win for Cath Ramsay 33 Stableford points followed by Isobel Kyle 32 points.

The Girvan gents competed in the final round of the 36 hole competitio­n with the overall winner, by virtue of a better second round, being Jamie Galloway round ( 1) 34 Stableford points round ( 2) 41 points = 75, followed by James Baillie 38+ 37= 75, Jim Madden 39+ 33= 73 and Hugh Boyd 39+ 33= 72.

The Girvan gents Competed for the Henage Medal which is for all the medal winners and runners up over the past 12 months and this brought in as winner David Mackintyre ( 11) 64 followed by David Heron ( 15) 66 and Jamie Galloway ( 13) 67.

Over at the Turnberry Golf Club the gents competed in the Championsh­ip Tees competitio­n over the King Robert the Bruce Course which resulted in a tie between Dominic Booth ( 3) 75 and Campbell Devlin ( 6) 75 which will be settled in a play- off.

These golfers were followed by Peter Keenan ( 1) 76, Roddy Gardner ( 11) 76, Jim Nicol ( 6) 77 and J. Byers ( 8) 77. In the Wednesday Medal A Hogarth ( 24) 74 had the winning score followed by Eddie Irvin ( 5) 75 and J. Byers ( 8) 75.

Bait loch is back open after being closed due to an algae bloom. The loch is fishing well best bait power bait and worm. The fly loch was stocked with a good number of fish between eight and 12lb along with normal stock size fish. The coarse loch still catching carp and some nice Chubb along with the fishery’s specimen roach and rudd.

REMINDER: Springwate­r offer free kids fishing one child under 14 years age free with a paying adult only one kid per adult and child shares adult limit.
