McCord looks to a fourth ring victory

Kincaidston starlet set for next professional bout

- Lochlin Highet

Ayr’s very own ring king is looking to make it a four fiesta on October 13 as he competes in his fourth professional boxing bout.

Calvin McCord, 21, has an impressive 3- 0 record at pro level already, and this will be his first six round fight.

The Kincaidston starlet, who fights at lightweight, made his professional debut in October 2017, with his second fight coming soon after in December.

And he won his third fight in June, winning on points after four rounds.

Speaking to the Post, he said: “I am looking forward to it and I am feeling good.

“Training has been excellent and I have been going well.

“I was injured earlier in the year so I have missed out on a couple of fights, so I really want to get back in a routine.

“I don’t think there is any pressure or expectation on me to get another win, I just have to take everything as it comes.

“It doesn’t matter who I have in front of me, I need to beat them.”

He added: “I think being a pro suits my style more, as I thrive under pressure and you can throw heavier punches which also suits me.”

Calvin works as an electrician alongside his professional career.

He said: “To get prepared for a fight I train twice a day, every day.

“It’s really hard getting a work/ life balance going.

The fight takes place on Saturday, October 13 at Paisley’s Lagoon Centre. For tickets call Calvin on 07760 398104.
