Title defence in takes a hit as Ayrshire lose to Dunbartons­hire

Ayrshire’s hopes of retaining the West of Scotland Inter County League title suffered on Sunday when they lost narrowly to Dunbartons­hire at Clober.

The third match in the series was level going into the last tie but the hosts won on the final green to clinch a 4.5- 3.5 victory.

Ayrshire now play Glasgow at The King Robert The Bruce course at Turnberry on Sunday.

In the correspond­ing youths’ match at Troon Lochgreen, Ayrshire gained their first point of the campaign in a 4- 4 draw.
