Craig: There is no bad blood

-

Craig Moore admits he’s prepared to play a game of patience as league leaders Ayr fly high.

Moore hit his first goals of the season with a double as United crushed Morton 5- 1 to make it three league wins in a row.

The striker bagged 27 goals last term en route to the League One title but this season has started only two games as Lawrence Shankland and Michael Moffat have formed a formidable partnership.

Moore was out for three weeks early in the season after suffering shingles but when he shrugged that off, he found starting places were hard to come by.

Moore revealed: “The boys have been doing well all season and results are showing that.

“You need to wait patiently and when you come on in these games you have to try and take your chance.

“I played with Shankland and Moff last season. We all enjoy playing but you can’t put the three of us on the pitch so obviously one is going to miss out.

“It’s a good challenge and in training you need to be at your best all the time.

“There is no bad blood or egos and everyone comes to training and gives it 100 per cent.”

Moore sidesteps title talk despite Ayr setting a hot pace. He claimed: “It’s not in our heads – we just take every game and see how we can go.

“We have just come up so to get a result every game is a bonus. I have been chasing my tail and trying to get my fitness back up as I lost a lot when I was out.

“Thankfully I’m back up to speed and hopefully I can start banging in the goals. It’s been stop start for me but that’s my first goals and hopefully I can continue.

“I am not competing with Lawrence. I’m doing the best for myself and the team and he’s doing the same.”
