The town is set to go off with a bang this weekend.

On Saturday the annual Troon Round Table fireworks takes over Barassie foreshore from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and volunteers will be shaking collection buckets.

Marr Rugby Club are putting on a ‘ Halloween and Firework Bonanza” from 8pm on the same night, tickets £ 5, over 18s only and fancy dress is mandatory.

There’s a £ 14,000 bounty to be shared by deserving Troon and Villages organisati­ons.

But you can only get a slice by voting in person for nominated groups.

Put the date in your diary - Saturday February 9 at Troon Concert Hall. This year groups can apply for up to £ 750, contact Seonaid Lewis on 01292 559359.

The Christian Aid committee in Troon invited friends and supporters along to a Bridge Afternoon in St Ninian’s Hall.

Over 30 raffle prizes were warmly received by the bridge players and high scorers received vouchers for Piersland House Hotel and the Marine.

Kirstie’s Flowers and Morrisons also donated prizes to be match funded by the European Union andeach £ 1 will become £ 5 resulting in a donation of £ 3,000. Many thanks to all who helped

An Afternoon with Alistair McDonald is at St Meddan’s Church Hall on Saturday November 10 in aid of the Scottish Bible Society has been organised by the Troon Action Group.

Doors open 1.45 for a 2pm start. Tickets priced £ 6 from Words and Music.

The Troon Lifeboat Fund- Raising Committee are holding a Christmas Fayre in Troon Concert Hall and the Walker Hall on Sunday November 18 from noon until 4pm.

Special Note for Children – Santa will arrive at the Titchfield Road Car Park at 11.45am.

The Next meeting of Troon Arts Society will be held in the Walker Hall on Monday November 12 at 1.15pm for a 1.30pm start.

The lecture is by Anne Sebba and is entitled Les Parisienne­s: How

the Women of Paris lived and Died under Natzi Occupation.

Memories and anecdotes about Troon will be very welcome from anyone who has lived in Troon all their life. These can be handed into the Church of the Nazarene on Wednesday October 31 from 1pm to 4pm.

Carry on Sleuthing – A Death on the Ocean Wave - a live performanc­e will be given in Troon

Library on Wednesday November 14 at 7pm. The cast read the script as if on radio. Not to be missed

The next meeting of Troon Flower Club will take place in the Walker Hall on Wednesday October 31.

Pauline Todd from Newton Stewart will demonstrat­e “Variety is the Spice of Life”. New members and visitors very welcome to attend.
