Drug debate in speech

-

Legalising cannabis was among the hot topics covered by the latest session of Prestwick Speechmasters.

Whose face should grace the new £ 50 note, coffee is just an excuse for a G& T and memories of your first full time job were among the other subjects tackled.

Speaker Jack Quinn addressed the audience on “Confrontation” in the workplace with all levels of management and in every day life.

The club meets every Monday evening in the Parkstone Hotel at 7.30pm.

All welcome.

Residents are claiming the attack was not the first time youngsters had run amok.

Police patrols in the area have now been increased after attending disturbances caused by the same group on four occasions.

Other residents have reported the gang of neds “rattling” their front doors.

Vice chair of Prestwick north community council, Mike Tomlinson, urged any who has any sort of issue regarding these incidents to get in touch with the police, adding: “It is great that the police are involved and hopefully they will contain it.”

Town councillor, Ian Cochrane, said: “I contacted the Sergeant whose in charge of the Prestick community policing and I was very reassured by his response because he had already spoken to the groups three times before the days leading up to my call. He was putting in place a number of actions. When I called him with my concerns, he did appear to be very on top of the situation and in the throws of taking steps to address it.

“I think that this is a great start for the new community policing team and part of their programme is to increase their viability on the street.”

Police confirmed that they had received a report of youths throwing eggs.

The spokesman added that they were “providing extra patrols” and anyone with information to contact 101.
