Festive treat for Hospice funds

-

Community groups will be rockin’ around the Christmas tree this year.

Kind hearted souls from across Ayrshire have joined together to create a festive spectacular for the Ayrshire Hospice.

An 18 track Christmas CD, featuring Jai McDowall, Craig Ward from the Voice, The Macdonald Brothers and Sydney Devine are all included plus many others.

It is now available to preorder with all proceeds going directly towards The Ayrshire Hospice.

Edd Holloway, from Events Alive, has put together this seasonal venture with musical direction from Maggie Holloway following the passing of Edd’s father, who was cared for by the Ayrshire Hospice last December.

He explained: “I think you almost take the [ Ayrshire Hospice] for granted - but when you have a relative in there that changes. I thought there must be something that I can do to help fund- raise for them.

“Not long ago we came up with the idea of doing a Christmas CD - I thought if I could call in some favors we could get this off the ground. We’ve got Ayrshire celebrities and groups of people taking part, the objective is to make money for the hospice direct from CD sales. Each CD is priced at only £ 10. We also want to create more awareness for the charity among the younger generation. We have songs performed by groups such as The Ayrshire hospice nurses and volunteers, Kilmarnock Football Club, Troon Football Club, Music Choir, and a group of Ayrshire Estate Agents who have all taken themselves out of their comfort zone for the charity. Wellington School also feature.

“We wanted to create the CD album which is a new fundraising tool and hopefully the response will be good and we can sell it each year.

“We have some amazing people doing this for us with such great talent.

“One of the most special things about this album is every one involved in each of the 18 tracks either lives in Ayrshire, was born in Ayrshire or works in Ayrshire, even the album cover was created by Ken O’Hara from Ayrshire.”

Those wishing to purchase the CD will find it available in Ayrshire Hospice shops around the area, Kilmarnock Football Club and other outlets.

Mr Holloway said: “This is about the hospice and helping people who are in a similar situation that I was in last year where you have to tell your children that their grandpa is dying - it is a very different charity when you’re activity involved in it. They are helping people that are in the worst scenario.”

Jai McDowell, winner of Britain’s Got Talent added that his fathers uncle was also cared for by the hospice.

He said: “I’ve done previous events for the Ayrshire Hospice and my dad’s uncle was in the hospice along with other friends who have been there - I know that the work that they do is really important.”

The aim is to sell 5000 CD’s making £ 50,000 for The Ayrshire Hospice this Christmas. The Hospice would like to thank Events Alive for all their support and other contributing supporters AMAS Chartered Management accountants, Corum Property, Allanvale, Callans Auctions, and the Design Studio.
