The club’s Bon Accord Trophy was competed for as a Texas Scramble with the teams of three comprising any of the Club members including ladies, gents and juniors. The winning team of H. Boyd, J. Gallagher and M. Campbell, playing off a handicap of 6 scored 52, they were followed by J. Lafferty, J. Baillie and G. Hilliard ( 5) 58 and J. Cameron A. Bush and P. McKay

( 6) 58.

Over at Turnberry in the Wednesday medal, P. Zonfrillo came in with the winning score of ( 11) 66, followed by J. Horne ( 7) 72, J. McNinch ( 11) 75 and A. Boyd ( 11) 75, all on the Ailsa Course.

In the Captain’s Prize, J. Byers came in to win with ( 8) 37 Stableford points on the Bruce course followed by A. MacDuff ( Ailsa Course) ( 11) 36, and B. Burns ( Ailsa Course) ( 8) 33.

The Sunday Medal brought in A. Long ( 8) 78 followed by J. Boyle ( 1) 78, S. Allan ( 6) 80 and T. Bennett ( 8) 80 all on the Ailsa Course.

BOWLS

Prestwick Gents suffered their first defeat of the season away at East Kilbride going down 73- 72 in an exciting match. Darren Weir and Paul Foster skipped their rinks to victory, but it wasn’t enough to claim the points.

The Seniors side found it tough away to Blantyre going down 85- 43 losing on all 4 rinks, this Saturday they entertain Ayr at the Bellevue Road stadium.

In the SIBA Ladies National Singles play downs at Glasgow at the weekend, Rebecca Houston won her first game against Buchan 21- 13 before losing out to 6 times winner Julie Forrest of Teviotdale 21- 13.

Sunday saw the SIBA Masters take place at Glasgow with Darren Weir lining up in the last 16, Darren beat Conner Milne ( Turriff) 2- 1 and Jason Banks ( Garioch) 2- 0 before losing to Colin Walker ( Midlothian) 2- 0 in the semi final.

In the SIBA Senior play downs at East Kilbride on Sunday, Alex Thomson was beaten 21- 20 by Auchinleck, in the Pairs George Smith and Stan Gibson were beaten by Ayr and Alan Paxton, Jim Fortune and Morris Sturgeon managed a victory against East Kilbride in the Triples.

This weekend the SIBA National Junior Singles play downs take place at Coatbridge with Darren Weir taking on East Kilbride at 2pm on Saturday and Rebecca Houston taking on Auchinleck on Sunday at 10am.

Also on Sunday the Ayrshire Ladies and Gents Leagues take place at the Galleon and Auchinleck respective­ly.
