Wintertain­ment - The parade leaves Templehill at 12.30pm. The Christmas lights are switched on at 4pm. The Beacon ( next to M & Co) will light up at 4.30pm. Family activities in various venues in Troon are open to all.

Troon @ Ayrshire Family History Society November meeting. There are many people with Irish ancestors living in Scotland and if you are one of them come along to the next meeting of Troon@ Ayrshire Family History on November 15 at 7.30pm in Portland Church. Jill Williams will be talking about Irish records. Tea/ coffee and biscuits will be served after the talk.

Celebratio­ns will be held at the Muirhead Co- op on November 24 to hand over this year’s local cause cash. Troon Tennis Club gets £ 2149.78, Marr Rugby Club £ 2283.42 and Prestwick BB £ 2149.79.

The Guild at St Meddan’s Church are holding a Coffee Fair on Saturday, November 17 from 10am until noon. A variety of stalls includes Christmas gifts, bottle stall, bric- a- brac, baking and books. Admission £ 2.50 with all proceeds going to the Guild Project and church projects.

ESOL Chat Cafe is held in Seagate Church every Friday from 11.30am until 1pm. This is a wonderful opportunit­y to improve English speaking skills in a relaxed atmosphere. Sharing a cup of coffee with friends breaks down barriers and helps strangers to mix and feel part of the local community.

Troon Library as part of Wintertain­ment are holding storytelli­ng events, facepainti­ng and crafts. Fruit punch and shortbread will be served.

The Troon Lifeboat Fundraisin­g Committee are holding a Christmas fair in Troon Concert Hall and the Walker Hall on Sunday, November 18, from noon until 4pm. Santa will arrive at the Titchfield Road car park at 11.45am.

Sally Buxton will perform at The Anchorage Hotel on Wednesday November 14. Start off a two course meal and glass of fizz at 6pm. Sally begins her floor show at 8pm. Tickets are priced £ 25 for the meal and entertainm­ent.

Carry on Sleuthing – A Death on the Ocean Wave - a live performanc­e will be given in Troon Library on Wednesday, November 14 at 7pm. The cast read the script as if on radio. Booking is essential – Tickets cost £ 8 from Troon Library.

The Troon Food Bank is needing supplies of tinned meat and fish, vegetables and main meals. Long- life milk and juices and essential toiletries. Unfortunat­ely no fresh food can be accepted. Collection point in Troon Old Church Room 2, Tuesdays and Fridays noon until 2pm.
