Talk of the town from our social media

-

The Wallace Tower turned red to remember our fallen heroes from past wars.

Anne Murphy said: “Even though we now live in Australia it makes us so proud of our hometown.”

Margaret Thomson said: “Good on Ayr for doing something decent.”

Jon Young said: “Brilliant way to remember those fallen heroes who gave their lives for king and country.”

Alan Deans said: “William himself would be proud.”

John Graham said: “Looks amazing, and poignant.”

Troon’s Academy Street shopping unit is set to expand as an application has been lodged with South Ayrshire Council for two new shops.

Chris Roy said: “Why not? “Troon doesnt really need parking spaces anyway.

“The main street does a great job of providing spaces, whilst creating all sorts of stupidity in the now slalom based two way street.”

Donna Read said: “Red button obviously see Troon as a town to invest in.

“It’s likely they may already have interested parties.

“They are a business and this should be welcomed in Troon.”

Bernadette Young said: “I would like to see the car park have the tarmac relaid and proper line marking parking spaces.

“More shops are great as long as they are not left empty as there are already a number of empty premises in the town.”

Steven Mackie said: “Wouldn’t it be better to fill the other shops before making new ones?”

Fights between pupils at Prestwick Academy are being probed.

Jennifer Reid said: “This starts with parents, teaching staff end up being referees splitting up fights!

“This happens at every school not just this one.

“The school can only do so much then parents need to take responsibility and sort their kids out.”

Diane McCaig said: “This school cost me the most miserable year of my life being bullied until I eventually got out. “Spoiled my exams and my life. “Nothing done and an experience which will stay with me forever.”

Officials have been urged to make a quick decision on the Station Hotel.

Adelina Slavin said: “A lot of old buildings in Ayr town are in desperate need of renovation of a face lift at least. Ayr Station Hotel has been allowed to go from wreck to ruin and the cause of major inconvenience to trains and passengers. It is a complete disaster and dereliction of duty by SAC.”
