Kinneil oozes luxury on the grandest of scales

-

It’s a wide boulevard of mansions where some homes go for more than £ 1million, writes Stephen Houston.

If it sounds like Dutch it is because it is. Bentinck was the family name of a succession of Dukes of Portland, creators of Troon.

The mansion “Kinneil” is at the preferred south end of Bentinck Drive, no more than a drive and a wedge from Royal Troon.

It is partially attached to a single storey house at the back – that is probably the chief reason the price has been put at offers over £ 775,000.

On the corner of Bentinck Crescent, you enter via sufficiently commanding gateposts onto a large parking concourse – electric gates of course.

A recent addition is a two- car garage with plenty of storage in the loft space.

In common with many other homes in this part of south Troon, the roof is of red tile and the walls white roughcast.

An arts and crafts wooden door – with eight small glass windows – from the vestibule leads to a grand reception hall with oodles of original woodwork, including beams.

If you need to entertain on a grand scale, then Kinneil may be for you.

For not only is there a fully equipped 18.5 foot kitchen, there is also a “preparation kitchen” with access to the utility.

The “proper” kitchen is high end with central island and all the latest kit.

This leads through to a “breakfasting conservatory.”

The drawing room is around 21 foot square with bay and a second aspect to the side and the central feature is the ingleneuk fireplace. There is a separate grand dining room with double doors as well as a large TV room.

The ground floor is completed by two toilets, so no need for your guests to queue for the loo. Same goes for overnight guests – four of the five double bedrooms have en- suite facilities.

The master bedroom has separate dressing area and four piece en- suite with inset TV and sound.

Another of the principal bedrooms has a Jacuzzi bath and separate multi jet power shower. Gardens are mainly to lawn for easy keeping.

G& S Properties in Bearsden 0141 942 9090 is seeking offers over £ 775,000.
