Hunt goes on for thugs

Detectives this week stepped up their hunt for two armed thugs who attacked a terrified woman and tried to rob her in her Ayr home.

The hooded brutes threatened the 45- year- old after breaking into a home in the town’s James Campbell Road.

The hooded brutes threatened the 45- year- old after breaking into a home in the town’s James Campbell Road.

They ransacked one of the rooms before fleeing empty handed.

Fortunatel­y, the woman was unhurt but has been left badly shaken by the frightenin­g incident that occurred on Friday about 2.45pm.

Detective constable Paul McRoberts, who is leading the investigat­ion, has appealed for witnesses to come forward.

“Officers are currently checking CCTV and speaking to neighbours in case anyone saw the two men who ran off towards James Campbell Court afterwards,” he said.

“This happened midafterno­on and there would have been people about, so if you saw any one acting suspicious­ly or have any informatio­n that will assist our enquiry, then please contact us.”

The first suspect is described as aged between 18 and 22, 5ft 10 and slim.

He was wearing a light blue hooded top which was covering his face.

His accomplice was about 5ft 8 and of medium build.
