Sheriff warns man : “Don’t talk to mum like that.”

a man avoided jail after being verbally abusive towards his own mother.

gavin samson, of gordon street Catrine admitted to shouting, swearing, repeatedly slamming doors and acting in an aggressive manner at his address on October 25 this year.

the 37- year- old appeared before sheriff scott pattison at ayr sheriff Court last week.

the court heard how samson was drunk when he “slammed his fists on the floor” and was verbally abusive towards both his mother and his aunt.

Depute Fiscal, samantha allan, explained: “the accused lives with his mother, who is the complainer.

“she had returned to the locus and the accused was under the influence of alcohol. He was verbally abusive and was slamming his fists on the floor. He also shouted “get out my f** king room”.

“the complainer contacted her sister who came over and tried to calm him down but his behaviour continued. the police were contacted.”

Defence solicitor peter Lockhart said that samson was attending alcohol counsellin­g and was “embarrasse­d and disgusted” by his behaviour.

sheriff pattison added: “You don’t talk to your mother like that and I am glad that you are embarrasse­d.”

samson was ordered to carry out a community payback order with 18 months supervisio­n and attend alcohol counsellin­g.
