Arty pupils go Eye up in London
Belmont Academy’s Art Department ran an excursion to London earlier this month.
During the trip, the group of S2- S5 pupils had the opportunity to visit the Natural History Museum, V& A Museum and Madame Tussauds.
The group also got a glimpse of the city when they visited the London Eye and travelled to the West End where they took in the School of Rock theatre show. They also had chance to try some big city food by dinning out in restaurants such as Pizza Express and Planet Hollywood.
Ashleigh Building’s Project
S3 Design and Manufacture and Graphic Communications pupils took part in an event with Ashleigh Building Projects ( ABP) and Ayrshire College. Twelve pupils were selected to take part in a problem- solving task. During the experience the pupils had the opportunity to visit the ABP site.
They also had the opportunity to go to the college and learn a variety of fields such as bricklaying, joinery and painting and decorating. At the end of the experience the pupils had to present their site plans to the director of ABP and the Director of Education.
Wii- athon Belmont Academy
S6 pupils arranged a Mario Kart Wii- athon tournament, held during lunchtimes throughout the week. Crowds turned out to support their fellow pupils of all ages.
All of this was in support of the Kris Boyd Charity, providing assistance to young people with mental health issues.
To take part, students had to buy tickets which the racers were chosen randomly from, and the money from this went to the charity. The winner received a golden Wii remote signed by professional footballer Kris.
