New single out for rising star Matt

One of Ayrshire’s hottest talents is getting set to release his second single this week, writes Lochlin Highet.

Matt Scott is a singersong­writer and multiinstr­umentalist from Kilmarnock who has headlined shows across the UK, in North America and in Europe.

And 2017 saw the release of his debut EP, backed by a band, with the facetiousl­y titled ‘ Whoever That Is...’ followed by two headlining shows at King Tuts ( Glasgow) and a top slot at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival ( Inverness).

North America had seen two performanc­es by Matt in Nashville, Tennessee before starting 2018 with national radio coverage and further headline performanc­es around Scotland.

The singer has received kudos from legendary Scottish artists such as Frankie Miller and Paolo Nutini, and has supported notable acts including The Alabama 3, Hurray for the Riff Raff, and Ben Caplan.

Matt has received national radio play through BBC Introducin­g following the release of his debut single ‘ All Out Of Sorts’.

The song has featured on Vic Galloway’s show and has been heralded by Jim Gellatly on Amazing Radio.

And now his new single ‘ Kicking Leaves’ is out on Friday, November 30.

It will be available on all the usual platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal and all other streaming sites.

Ahead of the release, 28- year- old Matt said: “I am looking forward to it, because it’s one of the first songs I ever wrote.

“It is coming out now because it has never sounded how I wanted it to.

“I am excited that I can now get it out there, it should be good!”

Matt added: “I have plans for a new single to come out in the next few months, then I should probably look into working on an album next year!”
