Wick’s promotion bid sunk by Paisley

Prestwick Bowls Gents slipped up at home on Saturday and put a dent in their promotion bid, the Gents were beaten 86- 71 by Paisley.

John Cuthbertso­n and Paul Foster guided their rinks to victory but it wasn’t enough to claim the 2 points.

This Saturday the Gents make the long journey to face Tweedbank and will be looking to get their season back on track. The Seniors couldn’t make home advantage count as they were beaten 66- 47 at home to Glasgow to keep them bottom of the section.

Morris Sturgeon and John Lindsay skipped their rinks to victory but it wasn’t enough to cancel out the defeats for the Stan Gibson and Alex Thomson skipped rinks.

This Saturday the Seniors are back in home action as they face Blantyre at the Bellevue Road Stadium.

The Ladies team was beaten 79- 63 away at Dumbarton on Saturday as they found it tough on their travels.

This Saturday the Ladies face local rivals Ayr at home as they look to do the double over Ayr this season.

On Sunday the Senior Triple of Jim Fortune, Alan Paxton and Morris Sturgeon were beaten 16- 3 from Ardrossan at East Kilbride.

Darren and Andrew Weir have been selected by the SIBA Under 25 selectors to be part of the Scotland team that will take to the green at Aberdeen in February.

Rebecca Houston has also been selected by the SIBA Under 25 selectors to play in the Internatio­nal Series at Belfast also in February.

This Sunday Rebecca Houston will be looking to catch the eye of the SIBA Ladies Internatio­nal Selectors as she travels to Arbroath for the Internatio­nal Trial.

The SYIBA Fours takes place at the Stadium on Sunday with a host of the countries best Juniors in action.
