Security measures tightened
Security has been tightened at Ailsa Hospital entry points after the stabbing of a hospital worker.
Donna Maxwell, 42, was attacked by a woman in the hospital car park last month.
NHS Ayrshire & Arran chief executive John Burns said improvements had been made to security after the assault.
At the health board meeting in Crosshouse Hospital last week Mr Burns said: “After the incident we undertook an immediate review of security in relation to that part of the Ailsa campus.”
He added that the hospital had made minor improvements to exits and entrances at the hospital.
Mr Burns said a safety review was already been underway when community support worker Donna was assaulted on November 22 but that will now be accelerated.
Board chairman Martin Cheyne told the meeting that he had written to the victim of the stabbing incident to wish her a speedy recovery and offer her any support.
The meeting heard that health managers m had also paid her a visit.
Mum Donna is now recovering at her Irvine Ir home after receiving treatment at Ayr A Hospital.
She had been walking to her car outside the th Ailsa addictions unit when she was stabbed st on the Thursday at 10am.
After the incident it emerged the CCTV system sy on the site has not been operational o for a number of years.
