Remembranc­e Poppies – Congratula­tions to Val McFarlane who raised £ 310.92 from her crocheted Remembranc­e Poppies. Val wishes to thank everyone who gave their support and helped in any way to raise this excellent sum. Since 2013 Val has raised a grand total of £ 3018.18 all of which has been donated to Poppy Scotland.

Bears Belhaven Care Centre are pleased to announce that the Haven Community Cafe will be opening soon in their premises at Academy Street. Everyone is welcome to come along for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. The cafe will be staffed by trained carers. Members of the public will be made very welcome. The cafe will be able to host groups for afternoon tea.

Bumps and Babies Group for under Ones and Pre- Walkers is now up and running at the Meadowgree­n Centre 141 Deveron Road on Tuesday mornings from 10.30am until noon. Drop in for coffee, tea and a chat. A Christmas Party will be held on Tuesday December 18 from 10.30am until 12noon. There will be entertainm­ent and treats for parents. Cost £ 2 for party and for all sessions.

Andy Slater, Chairman of Irvine and Troon Cancer Care, updated Troon Rotary members on the ongoing work of the volunteers. For over thirty years now drivers have provided free transport for cancer patients from Irvine, Troon and beyond to attend hospitals in Glasgow and Ayrshire. President Margaret Weir congratula­ted the group on their valuable work.

A Scrabble Club has just started at the Visitors’ Centre, the Castle, Dundonald. It is held on Wednesday at 1.30pm. It is free with players paying for tea and coffee during the afternoon. Contact Ian on 07531 529 531.

Troon Chorus are joining Ayr Choral singing Christmas Carols in Morrison’s Supermarke­t on Thursday December 20 from 11am until noon. Please come along and give your support. The carol singers are raising for the Ayrshire Hospice.

Bradan Road Sheltered Housing Unit are showing Christmas Movies in December. Come along every evening at 7pm or on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm.

Food Drive for Foodbank will be held at Morrisons from noon to 4pm on Sunday December 16. Remember those who cannot always put food on the table for their families. Donations of Long

Life Milk, tinned meat and fish, tinned fruit and vegetables, tinned fruit and cereals. The event is organised by Troon Ladies Circle.

The next date for Hearing Aid Support will be Monday December 17 from 10am until 12.30pm. in Troon Library. This free service provides, batteries, mould tubing and advice on cleaning hearing aids.

ESOL Chat Cafe is held in Seagate Church every Friday from 11.30am until 1pm. This is a wonderful opportunit­y to improve English speaking in a relaxed atmosphere.
