Diving success

-

Two divers from Ayr Diving Club recently made their mark at the Irish Age Group Championships in Dublin.

Ten- year old Miya Morrison competed in the Girls Group D event, while 13- year old Logan Reilly took part in the Boys Group C competition. Miya performed consistently well throughout two days of competition, narrowly missing the medal placings in fourth place in both the one- metre and three- metre springboard events.

In the older age group for the Boys, Logan Reilly competed in the one- metre and threemetre events. In the one- metre he finished in a closely- run fifth place.

Logan came back fighting in the threemetre event, achieving a superb silver medal and a personal best score.

Coach Peter Smith said: “Our Club has only recently broken into Age Group diving, a much higher level of diving than we are used to.

“It’s always tough when divers move into a higher category of competition, but Logan and Miya are already beginning to make their mark.

“These are the best results the Club has achieved for many years, and prove that we are able to compete at higher levels of competition.”

The Citadel provides diving lessons for beginners through to intermediate level, with Ayr Diving Club providing a pathway into competitive diving.
