Victim was weeks away from giving birth to their baby

This is the battered face of a young woman who was brutally attacked by a vicious soldier while she was heavily pregnant.

Now friends have hit out after brute Euan Kerr, escaped a jail term after strangling Chloe Rennie, 19, and leaving her with a black eye just weeks away from giving birth to their daughter.

One told the Post: “This animal got a slap on the wrist and in my eyes it isn’t anywhere near good enough.”

A soldier who beat his heavily pregnant girlfriend has avoided a jail sentence.

Brute Euan Kerr strangled ex partner Chloe Rennie, 19, and left her with a black eye when she was just weeks away from giving birth to their daughter.

The 20- year- old 2 Scots Royal Regiment of Scotland soldier launched his vicious attack on October 7 last year at McAdam Place in Ayr.

The original charge put against Kerr also stated he “threatened her unborn baby” but this allegation was dropped.

The brute appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court last Tuesday for sentencing, where Sheriff Desmond Leslie ordered Kerr to be placed on a community payback order of two years supervision.

He must attend the Caledonian Project and is not allowed to contact or approach Miss Rennie.

But this week, many hit out that Kerr got “a slap on the wrist” and that more help was needed for victims of domestic violence.

A furious friend, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Post: “He beat and strangled her when she was heavily pregnant with their daughter.

“This animal got a slap on the wrist and in my eyes it isn’t anywhere near good enough.

“The system on domestic violence is a shambles.

“Victims are made to leave homes, make ‘ safety plans’ and go through gruelling trials and court dates.

“Yes she and other victims heal from physical wounds but the mental and emotional ones are there for life.

“Monsters can commit crimes and walk away with absolutely nothing.

“It’s not fair that everyday for her is a mental battle and everyday for him is a life of luxury.

“He committed a serious offence that he is not paying for and instead she will pay for it for the rest of her life.”

Kerr, of Thorn Terrace, Kilmarnock, admitted assaulting Chloe Rennie by punching her on the head,

straddling her, placing his hands around her neck and restricting her breathing to her injury and danger of life.

The Post contacted Miss Rennie this week but she was too upset to speak to us.
